Interview with Oded Na’aman of “Break the Silence”

    March 10th, 2008 | Occupation | | 2 Comments »

On January 25, 2002 a remarkable group of 52 soldiers and officers of the Israeli army reserves published a quarter-page letter which appeared in the Israeli daily newspaper Ha’aretz. In this letter, they called on their comrades-in-arms to join their act of refusal to serve in the occupied Palestinian territories of the West Bank and Gaza. In a manifesto published in a book in 2003 entitled “Breaking Ranks: Refusing to Serve in the West Bank and Gaza Strip,” they further declared: “we shall not continue to fight beyond the 1967 borders in order to dominate, expel, starve, and humiliate an entire people.”

Sherif Fam speaks to Oded Na’aman, a 26 year-old former crew commander in the artillery corps of the Israeli Defense Forces, who spent a year as a soldier and commander in checkpoints all over the West Bank, then became a member of “Breaking the Silence.”

    House demolition in Anata, Palestine

    December 22nd, 2007 | PalCast Video | | Comments »

On July 17, 2007, volunteers at the Summer Rebuilding Camp sponsored by ICAHD-USA witnessed the Israeli government demolish a nearby Palestinian family’s house. Every year the Israeli government demolishes around 300 Palestinian houses in order to expand illegal Israeli settlement construction. This policy of settlement expansion, land confiscation, and demolition of Palestinian houses forms the biggest obstacle to peace. ICAHD-USA is working to end these policies.

    Facts on the Ground

    October 5th, 2007 | PalCast Video | | Comments »

Personal stories of Palestinians and Israeli settlers frame this 1993 account of Israel’s race to build permanent settlements in the West Bank and Gaza strip, in an effort to cement the occupation of Palestinian lands. The decisive role of U.S. aid and the impact of massive Soviet immigration are reflected in everyday life on both sides. Eyewitness testimony and analysis underscore the political stakes as the settlements become “facts on the ground.”

Produced by Anata Video in cooperation with Palestine Solidarity Committee and Tami Gold.
